Explore the wonders of Cape Township Guided Day Tour.

Our private township tour offers an intimate look into these vibrant communities just outside of Cape Town. Experience Langa and Gugulethu townships, interact with local residents, and learn about township development projects. Explore two South African townships, Langa and Gugulethu, on this guided private Township tour. Experience the culture and heritage of this multi-racial rainbow nation.
We will pick you up from your accommodation and drive you to Langa (meaning ‘Sun’ in Xhosa), one of Cape Town’s oldest townships. Named after a respected chief Langalibalele, a renowned rainmaker imprisoned on Robben Island in 1873, the township is named after him. You will be introduced to the local site tour guide by your driver upon arrival in this township. You will enjoy the opportunity to interact with locals during a short walking tour (0.5 miles or less than a kilometer).

ITINERARY

[1] A pick-up service will be provided at the airport for multi-day tours and safaris only, not day tours. When you arrive in this township, your guide/driver will introduce you to the local resident tour guide. Locals will be able to interact with you as you enjoy a short walk. Walking portion will begin at Gugasthebe, a tourist information center where local youth will learn skills from non-profit organizations. A former apartheid detention center will be visited before you head to the local tavern or shebeen, where you will learn the name of the local beer. We’ll also visit old and new hostels to see how the government has transformed the township’s living conditions by bringing barbecue (braai) meat to the streets. You will have the opportunity to speak with a Sangoma, or traditional doctor, at the Langa market (optional).

The tour will take you to area attractions, and you will stop at the Mzoli meat place for lunch at your own expense. The locals here will be happy to serve you food and drinks.
